Activision Blizzard CEO Opposes Putting CoD on Game Pass

The Microsoft-FTC case concluded with Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, being questioned about Call of Duty and subscription services. Sony previously claimed that publishers “hated Game Pass.” People are curious about Kotick’s views about putting Call of Duty on subscription services and the motives behind it. Kotick wants this deal to go through as it will end with an enormous payday for him. However, he can say that he would not put Call of Duty on Game Pass but simultaneously say that it’s not going to be up to him after the sale.

It feels like another move, one that perhaps Sony might have considered instead of also insulting Game Pass the same way.

The Future of Call of Duty on Subscription Services

It remains to be a mystery whether Microsoft will put Call of Duty on Game Pass. It can be immediate or down the road, regardless of whether the series stays on PlayStation. Phil Spencer, Xbox’s Head, swore under oath that it would.

However, having PlayStation players pay $70 for the game and Xbox players getting it with Game Pass is possible. Of course, that is what Sony believes to be anti-competitive.

The judge will decide soon, but so far, something like this has not been a consideration in things like the UK’s cloud-based rejection of the deal.
