Xbox Games Getting New Far Cry? Game Director Teases Big Surprises

Far Cry is one of the most loved and successful game franchises in the world, with a loyal fan base that enjoys its immersive open-world gameplay, varied settings, and unforgettable villains. But the fate of the game was unclear after the exit of senior executive Dan Hay two years ago. Now, Xbox games fans have a lot to look forward to, and we can’t wait to enjoy what’s coming.

Xbox Games Far Cry Lovers, Brace Yourselves for a Shock!

Now, there is a new director at the helm of the game, and he has some big news to share. Drew Holmes has been with Ubisoft for almost eight years and worked on Far Cry 5 and Far Cry: New Dawn.

He announced on his LinkedIn page that he is now the IP director for the franchise. He also said that he has “big things in store” and that he wants to be part of the “next evolution of this great brand”.

So, What Should Fans Expect?

What does this mean for the fans? Well, we don’t know much yet, but we do know that there are at least two new Far Cry projects in the works: Far Cry 7 and a stand-alone multiplayer title.

Both are expected to launch in late 2025, using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. That’s a long time to wait, but hopefully it will be worth it.

Long List of Wishes!

Fans have a lot of hopes and wishes for the next Far Cry games. Firstly, they want to see a more urbanized map with different environments and weather conditions. Secondly, they want to see more character development and choices that affect the story.

Thirdly, fans also want to get into more sea adventures with pirates and naval combat. Finally, there also needs to be a lot more variety and creativity in weapons and vehicles. Far Cry 6 does address this last one quite a bit, but there is so much more that can be done still.

Of course, these are just some of the ideas that fans have. The creative team at Ubisoft may have something completely different in mind. But whatever they do, we hope that they will stay true to the spirit and quality of the Far Cry series.
